How do I get past the storefront?
You need to figure out why the egret keeps chasing you.
Perhaps you have something the egret wants?
inventory lists the items you’re carrying. examine followed by an item name will tell you more about that item.
Maybe the egret smells something?
smell will give you another clue.
drop fish anywhere, or give fish to the egret.
How do I get in the house?
Focus on solving as many puzzles as you can outside first. If you find something you can interact with, you can probably do something with it.
Have you tried opening the door?
search thoroughly outside to find a key for the door.
search the backyard for a clue.
You’ll need to appease the dog before you can look in the dog house.
Have you found anything at the library?
Have you tried opening the drop box?
open drop box or look drop box for a clue.
reach in drop box to find the bone. take bone or click on the bone to take it.
Return to the backyard and give bone to the dog.
search the backyard again or click the on the dog house to find the key.
Don’t forget to pet the dog. She’s a good girl.
unlock the door to the house and then open it.
If there’s someone at the door, it may be best to leave and come back later.
Where do I find the Lil Sweetie?
It may help to review the options in the Commands menu.
It’s a good idea to search everywhere. You don’t have to be specific, search will take a thorough look around the current scene.
It’s inside the house.
Ever drop something behind the toilet? It’s basically gone forever. No one wants to reach back there.
search the bathroom, or look behind toilet to find the Lil Sweetie.
How do I unlock the Lil Sweetie?
Once you have the Sweetie, use sweetie for a close-up of the device.
Click the power button to turn it on.
To enter the passcode, click the up or down buttons to select a number, then click the OK button to enter that number. The dots will fill in each time you enter a digit.
You’ll need to figure out the passcode to do anything else with it.
Have you seen anything with numbers on it?
Once you find the numbers, you’ll need something to decode them.
Explore thoroughly to find what you need.
Have you looked at the vase in the foyer?
Have you tried to get the piece of fabric?
Unfortunately, there’s no way to get the fabric without damaging the vase.
It would be a shame to destroy such a beautiful vase.

Don’t forget to take cloth or click on it to pick it up. Notice anything unusual?
examine cloth for a closer look.
Can you think of anything those holes might line up with?
Perhaps when you first arrived in this place?
Bus stops usually have a schedule with times and stop numbers on them.
examine schedule at the bus stop to find some interesting numbers. There are too many for a passcode, though.
hold up cloth while looking at the bus schedule.
It’s the price of a cheese pizza and a large soda at Panucci’s Pizza.
Enter the code 1077 to unlock the Lil Sweetie.
How do I use the Lil Sweetie?
Make sure you’ve unlocked it first.
Click on the up or down buttons to select a message, then click the OK button to open it.
When you open a message, you’ll see a clue about the problem.
Where could you find a free Wi-Fi network?
Places with free Wi-Fi often have signs that advertise it.
Those signs are often near the entrance.
They may be on the small side, so look carefully.
search the library entrance for a clue.
read sign to see what it says.
Don’t worry, you can usually get on the Wi-Fi network from outside a building as long as you’re close by.
use sweetie at the library entrance. Select a message using the up or down buttons, then click the OK button to open it. Click OK again to connect, then OK again to go back to the list of emails. Now when you open a message you’ll be able to read it.
Make sure you read all the messages.
How do I fix the Lil Sweetie?
Pay attention to the text after the screen goes blank.
It seems like it ran out of power.
Have you noticed anything around the Lil Sweetie screen that you haven’t used yet?
open the battery cover.
remove battery to take out the used battery.
examine battery to check it out. You’ll need a fresh AA battery.
If you don’t have any idea where to get one, make sure you’ve explored everywhere thoroughly.
Especially inside the house.
Have you been upstairs?
take book in the upstairs hallway.
It’s worth a read.
examine book after you’ve picked it up. It seems to be a book about a plant that generates power.
open the book for a look inside.
It appears to be some sort of recipe?
Fortunately one of the ingredients is right there.
take potato to remove the potato from the book.
What type of object would fit in the top cutout?
Pay attention to the written note as well.
How do I get the next ingredient?
What does the empty cutout in the book look like?
It’s a little bit pear-shaped, but it’s not a pear. Any other bright ideas?
I’ll wait right here until you have a sudden flash of inspiration.
Did you know you can power a potato with a light bulb?
There are two places you can find light bulbs in the game.
Unfortunately, you can’t get the light bulbs from the porch.
Somewhere there’s a lamp with a light bulb in it.
Have you found the study yet? It’s inside the house.
Check the upstairs hallway thoroughly.
take skull and pay attention to the text that appears. search if you’ve already taken the skull.
push button and see what happens.
Finally, a lamp with a light bulb. You’ll need to remove shade before you take light bulb.
The cat doesn’t seem to like you messing with the lamp.
Perhaps you can persuade them. talk to the cat to start a conversation.
While you’re in the Brisket Close-Up, you can talk to continue the conversation. Occasionally you’ll need to answer a question. Simple one- or two-word answers are all you’ll need.
It’s OK if you don’t remember your name. You can find it somewhere.

It’s your Lil Sweetie. The messages on it were sent to you.
Your name is Cameron, or Cam for short.
Next, you’ll need to figure out why you’re here. You can get straight to the point and say you need a light bulb if you like.
OK, so that didn’t work. Why are you really here?
Remember that the messages on the Lil Sweetie are addressed to you.
The messages don’t explain what happened to you, but there’s enough information to make some guesses.
The place you’re in is strange. Paths lead off to complete darkness. You’re in an unfamiliar house, yet you found your childhood Lil Sweetie behind the toilet. You’re talking to a cat.
You can try just saying no, or even yes if you’re feeling confident.
It seems you’re a bit lost.
Maybe you’re dreaming?
While you’re figuring out what happened to you, you may notice another problem. You’re full of witty remarks, and Brisket does not appreciate it.
Hopefully your encounter with the egret gave you an opportunity to look over your inventory. examine each item to learn more about it.

It seems you took a correspondence course to improve your banter at the coffee shop you used to work at. Apparently it worked a bit too well.

Your conversations will be a bit different now. Try telling Brisket you’re dreaming again, or any of the other responses you tried.
Brisket’s reaction is a bit concerning.
You can read books in the upstairs hallway for some clues. You’ll get a random book each time. Most of them are just jokes.
The token is also a subtle clue, if you look closely. search carefully if you haven’t found it yet.
The Lil Sweetie messages make it clear that something happened to Cameron after she had an argument with Tessa. She ran out and a storm was coming. She disappeared for a long time. Six and a half hours later, Tessa still couldn’t find her.
Obviously Cameron was mad at Tessa, or she wouldn’t have left. But why didn’t she respond to Tessa’s messages at all?
Something terrible must have happened.
Tell Brisket you died or you’re in purgatory.
talk to continue the conversation, then go back when you’re done.
When you return to the study, Brisket will leave after your next action.
You can take the bulb now.
turn off light, remove shade, and take bulb.
How do I get the last ingredient?
What did the note in the book say?
“Just add water!” Have you found water anywhere?
Unfortunately there’s no source of water in the greenhouse.
Bathrooms usually have plumbing.
There’s a bathroom inside the house, east of the foyer.
Unfortunately the sink is broken.
The toilet is working, though.
Ideally, you could get water from the tank, but it seems to be stuck shut.
Alas, the bowl is also empty.
flush the toilet and it will fill with water.
You’ll need something to put the water in. Hopefully you already have it since you’ve been careful to search each area.
search the greenhouse to find a watering can.
open the toilet, then get water to fill the watering can.
What do I do with these ingredients?
What was the title of the book again?
It seems like you’re growing a plant.
The greenhouse is a good place to plant something.
examine pot or click the pot to interact with it.
Watering the pot should come last. You can go back and get more water if you need to.
plant potato, plant bulb, then water pot.
The plant will need some time to grow.
You can rest, wait, or just walk around a bit until the plant has grown.
examine pot then take battery to get the fresh battery.
Now that you have a new battery, you can use sweetie, open the battery compartment, then insert battery.
close the compartment, then power the device on again.
Now you can read Tessa’s last message.
You’ll need to go back to the library again to use the free Wi-Fi.
Click the OK button after reading the message.
Click the sass button to choose from different replies. The sass button is the one on the left that looks like a comic book word balloon.
After you choose a reply, click down to select the send button, then click OK to send your reply. Click OK again to return to the library.
How do I finish the game?
If you leave the library, you’ll notice a bus has arrived at the bus stop.
enter bus to get on board.
You can talk to the bus driver if you like.
If you don’t have a token, you’ll need to search thoroughly to find one.
Have you noticed anything you might find a coin in?
search the storefront to find a token in the vending machine.
insert token at the bus entrance to complete the game.

How do I get the maximum score?
Completing the game will give you a minimum of 17 points.
If you’ve played the game before, make sure to find the cloth and use it on the bus schedule before the bus arrives. This will get you at least 19 points.
There are two slightly different ways to get past the egret. Only one will get you a point.
give fish to the egret for a point.
It’s rewarding to be kind to animals.
pet the dog after giving her a bone for a point. You also get to learn her name!
Cleanliness is important.
You should always wash hands after using the toilet.
Make sure to wash your hands every time!
The next point requires some… “outside the box” thinking.
No, I don’t mean it’s outside the game window. It is sort of outside the game, though.
Have you looked at the credits?
Make sure to read them thoroughly.
You won’t get a point for that, I just thought that you should. All of the people that helped with this game are lovely.
It helps to look around carefully. Focus on the first credits screen. Make sure to do this before you get to the End scene.
It’s strange that there’s a search option in the Commands menu here.
YZZYX should look a bit familiar if you’ve ever played Colossal Cave. If you haven’t, go play it now. It’s pretty good! I’ll wait.
In Colossal Cave, there’s a spell named xyzzy. If you say the word in the right place, you’ll be teleported somewhere else.
Pretty neat right?
Type xyzzy and see what happens.
Okay, that doesn’t do much in this game. Type yzzyx on the first Credits screen for a point.
click mouse a couple of times to get back to the game.
You’re only one point away now!
The last one is at the very end of the game.
It helps to have some familiarity with Greek mythology.
Or at least King’s Quest 6. You should play that one too, it’s top tier.

She goes by Sharon now, but you may know her better as Charon.
Have you tried examine token?
Office of Buses, Operators, and Lines.
O.B.O.L., for short.
The token is an obol.
Ancient Greeks and Romans placed a coin, or obol, with the dead before burial. This was said to be a payment for Charon, the ferryman who transported souls across the river Styx to the afterlife.
put token on eye in front of Sharon. You can also put token in mouth, if you prefer to be historically accurate.
